Pacific Locomotive History

Since 2014 when Game Insight first Created Transport Empire, the Pacific locomotive has undergone multiple changes. It is worthwhile for players in the game to occasionally reflect on how their experience changed over the course of the game. Below are some of the changes the Pacific Locomotive underwent:

Historical Parts Production

The following is meant to preserve efforts offered with the introduction of Parts under Version 2.0 by Contributors such as Therkyn, Yejaco & others, and to document the evolution of the Parts System of the game:

Version 2.2 Overview

With the changes brought with version 2.2, all Parts produced at the Craftshop are Basic Parts Parts. All Parts produced by Airships via the Airport are Excellent Parts Kit-of-parts-icon renamed combining both the former "ordinary parts" Ordinary-parts and "complex parts"Complex-parts.

A second major change is the frequency of parts returned. An airship contract now returns 15 "excellent" parts through 3 crates. The Craftshop returns between 5-50 Basic Parts through 1-10 crates.

In practical terms it is possible for the infrequent player (plays a couple times a day) now to gain many more basic parts through the course of the day than they would have been able to before. The frequent player can collect even more parts with L1 contracts, collecting once per hour.

On the other hand, using only the craftshop will take much longer to produce L3 and L4 parts. Strategy will now require players who want to quickly upgrade to use more of their crystal supply running airships and less crystals on city upgrades.

Version 2.0 / 2.1 Contract Comparison:

  • Each level of production has a higher chance of returning more-advanced parts than in previous contracts:

As of 2 Jan 16. Will continue to update. Kit of Parts has 2 columns just in case. Map Events/Encounters give 3/box. Basic-Store is the free box from the store. I am tracking separately because it has provided 5 items not found so far in the basic crafted box.
